Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries is bringing the film “Glen Campbell…I’ll Be Me” to the region.

By arrangement with the film’s producers, Diakon will present the film—which details Campbell’s battle with Alzheimer’s disease—at two showings, 3 and 6:30 p.m., June 15, at SteelStacks, Bethlehem. 

Fitch Ratings issues BBB+ ratings for Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries bonds

Fitch Ratings of New York has affirmed its “BBB+” rating of bonds issued on behalf of Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries. The affirmation was announced in a news release posted by Fitch.

The rating indicates a “stable” financial outlook for Diakon; further, Fitch issued a “BBB+” rating in preparation for the issuance of $145.5 million of Cumberland County Municipal Authority revenue bonds, series 2015.

Diakon, Lutheran seminary at Philadelphia recipients of major bequest; funds will help to support services for children and families

Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries and The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia today jointly announced the receipt of a more than $14.5 million bequest that will be split evenly between the two organizations.

The bequests of more than $7.2 million to each organization were made by the late Helen Nicholson Palmer of Wyomissing, who passed away in December 2012. Her husband, Frank R. Palmer, who died in 1992, was the former president and CEO of Carpenter Technology Corp., also of Wyomissing.
